«From Chaos We Come»: Freedom, Choices, and Changing Our Life
September 29, 2017
Let’s discuss Life for a moment…
What is life? It is a continuous crossroads where you are called daily to make choices—choices that will either elevate you emotionally or keep you stagnant.
What is life, after all?
“No one is tired of life; they are only tired of themselves.” — Voltaire
No, unfortunately, I did not write the quote above; Voltaire did. However, I observe and feel it daily within my clinical practice, and perhaps I wish I saw it even more frequently around me. I would like to see daily—as contradictory as it might sound initially—more people who are “tired” of themselves.
And the reason? Because that is exactly how real Change begins. When you finally grow tired of repeating the same painful loops, only then do you decide to take action.
Decoding Existential Freedom
It seems that all of this stems from a deeper concept, perhaps the most magnificent of all: the word Freedom.
If you want to understand what life is, first learn what “Freedom” means. It is a word we assume is crystal clear, yet very few have managed to decode it, and even fewer have placed it as the ultimate value in their lives, serving as their inner compass.
True freedom is what hands you the responsibility for your choices:
- It is what gives you the option to do or not do something.
- It is what allows you to choose to evolve or to remain stagnant.
- It is what permits you, without guilt, to make mistakes.
- It is what allows you to resign from a job that drains you, or to keep working where you suffer.
- It is what gives you the choice to stay where you are loved and respected, or where you are made miserable.
- It is what allows you to persist in dysfunctional patterns, or to discover fresh, healthy paths.
- It is what allows you to constantly blame your parents for everything that happened to you, or to take life into your own hands.
- It is what allows you to self-destruct or to self-improve.
This is freedom. Nothing more absolute, nothing more magnificent!
After All, Whose Life Are You Living?
Every single day you are called to make decisions, small or large. Do not let time pass passively, waiting for circumstances to change on their own. Understand what life is, and… Make them count!
🎯 Take Life Into Your Own Hands
The freedom of choice often triggers existential anxiety and fear. If you feel stuck on paths you did not actively choose, or if fractured Self-Esteem prevents you from taking the next step, you do not have to navigate this transition alone.
Through Individual Therapy, we create a secure space where you can uncover your true values, release the burdens of the past, and reclaim your right to define your own life.
