Abuse & Bullying: Managing Psychological Trauma and Breaking the Cycle of Violence

" Acknowledging abuse requires immense courage. Learn to identify the symptoms of trauma and claim a safe space for long-term emotional healing. "

If you have arrived at this specific page of my website, it means you have already gathered the necessary courage to break the silence and look for a solid support network. Acknowledging and admitting that we have been victims of abuse or systematic bullying is the first and most critical step toward recovery.

Psychological trauma is a profound emotional injury. It typically stems from an extremely stressful, threatening, or deeply humiliating situation, which may have lasted from a few hours to several consecutive years. This trauma can become deeply rooted within us as a result of physical, verbal, emotional, psychological, or sexual abuse.

The Difficulty of Acknowledgment and the Cycle of Violence

The words “abuse” or “bullying” might have felt foreign to you for a long time, or you may have actively avoided using them. Admitting that you have been abused is never easy. It becomes significantly more complex and painful when the perpetrator was someone you fully trusted—a parent, a partner, a teacher, or a close friend—for whom you harbored deep feelings of love, respect, and admiration.

You may have forgiven them repeatedly, giving second and third chances, yet your trust was shattered and your psychological well-being was profoundly wounded.

⚠️ An Absolute Truth: Violence has many faces: it can be physical, verbal, psychological, or emotional (such as manipulation, gaslighting, and deliberate isolation). No form of violence is acceptable, and it should never be inflicted upon any human being. The cycle of violence is broken only when we share our truth or report the behavior. Covering up violence out of fear of social judgment unfortunately turns into complicity.

The Signs and Long-Term Impacts of Bullying

Often, there comes a specific turning point in a victim’s life when they realize the massive scale of changes bullying has forced upon their daily routine:

  • Social Alienation: Gradual withdrawal from all friends and building a “wall” of secrecy and absolute silence with parents or loved ones.
  • Physical Concealment: The constant need to wear long-sleeved clothing even during hot summer months to cover bruises or marks of physical abuse.
  • Loss of Vitality: Bullying completely steals one’s joy for life. Self-esteem, self-respect, and self-worth are systematically eroded, and the individual becomes convinced by the abuser that they “do not matter.”
  • Distorted Body Image: The way you perceive your own body changes drastically, and you develop deep feelings of shame, guilt, or even aversion toward who you are.

If you are experiencing any of the above, or if you are constantly fighting intrusive, painful memories, nightmares, severe anxiety, and flashbacks (past distress re-emerging), it is a clear sign that you carry an active psychological trauma that requires specialized care.

The Role of Psychotherapy in Trauma Recovery

Through individual therapy sessions, my primary goal is to provide you with a completely secure, confidential, protected, and non-judgmental environment. Together, we will work step-by-step to help you reconnect with yourself, your body, and safely learn to trust another human being again.

Within our therapeutic relationship, your desires and psychological needs are fully respected. We do not rush. Trauma recovery will proceed exclusively at the speed, pace, and depth that you feel ready to tolerate and manage.
